VACATION!!!!

I am super excited. My consultation appointment is in just over 2 weeks, so to fill that wait....VACATION! Well, for me anyways. Dale will be working most of it.

His job sends him many places quite often. In fact, he is probably gone at least 6 months of the year. How do I handle that? Easy, I was an Army wife. A week or two at a time is nothing, especially since we don't have the joys of raising kids yet.

So this trip is to ALASKA!!! His trip is paid for and mine was bought with his frequent flier miles! I plan to spend my time while he is working either relaxing or visiting with my sister-in-law and their beautiful children! I haven't seen the oldest in YEARS and the baby, who is 2, I've never met.

We only have to pay for 2 hotel nights over our entire stay. For those 2 nights, we are renting a cabin in the mountains (I think). Guess what, our cabin has its own private hot tub!!!

Can you tell that I'm super excited???

Once we get back, I'll have about a week before my consultation. Then we'll let the poking and proding begin......oh the things I must endure for us to be able to hold a little one of our own. But I will do so gladly and willingly, but not necessarily cheerfully! (I hate needles and medicines that make me sick)

The Day After...

Where to start?

I guess the first people who may read this, know where we stand and our history. If you don't you probably soon will.

I will just start off by saying, Dale and I have been trying to have a child of our own since the summer of 2005. There have been many, many, many bumps and bruises along the way. We have known for a couple years, that our only remaining option is Invitro Fertilization (IVF). Not only is this expensive, but its not covered under our health insurance. (If I only knew how to work the system like OctoMom!)

Last month I turned 29. I always hoped I'd have my children and be finished with diapers at 30. Now I look and I see that isn't gonna happen, but just maybe 30 will bring our first child.

I know this road we have chosen to travel won't be easy, at best difficult, but hopefully worth it.

You see, not only will I be at least 30 upon delivery, I will also carry the risk of multiples (no more than 2 please!) as well as gestational diabetes. Add all that together and you have a high risk pregnancy. ~Oh, did I forget to mention Dale travels with his job ALOT!

So yesterday was, you guessed it, the dreaded Mother's Day! Some days are bad, others not so much. I really did try to forget what yesterday was and kept myself BUSY!

THE DAY AFTER..... I took that big step, I called The Jones Institute here in Virginia. I made an appointment. We will consult with a doctor in a few weeks, then test will need to be done (which we are told insurance should pay for) Then we see what happens.

Please keep us in your prayers as we go through this. I know I will be taking hormones and shots, so I will be emotional. POOR DALE!!!
